The decision to take the Pledge of Allegiance out of schools was made in June 2002, when the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of California atheist Michael Newdow. They said that the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional because it contains the words “under God.” A decision was also made to have displays of the Ten Commandments removed from government-owned property. These decisions were initiated by ACLU the American Civil Liberties Union. How can this be unconstitutional? The Declaration of Independence was written and signed before the Constitution. Like any other document any intelligent person with reason would look to similar documents for further clarification, in similar documents, especially since the Constitution was built upon the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence was the reason for and resulted in the Constitution. Even though the word God is not in the Constitution the word Liberty is. The word Liberty is defined in the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence uses the words and phrases such as “Laws of Nature, Natures God, Creator, and God.” I ask why the ACLU made this move for legislation if their organization has the word Liberty in their name, the word God found in the same document that contains the word Liberty, the word Liberty defined in that document, and the basis for the Constitution was the Declaration of Independence? When that happened, I felt a portion of hope get stolen and then die as a distant organization not only took that away from me but from people that felt the same way. Their actions and the name they use creates a basis of hypocrisy to include their real intent. There are other organizations like ACLU. This is cause for concern.
